This flower sitar belonging to Thierry Willame is on a visit.
We want to change it into a playable instrument.
First I have made and mounted a new bridge on the soundboard and put new strings. After tuning the strings I put a liner…
… and I find the soundboard curved some 4 mm.
Seeing this I am worried that this curve is too big, knowing that it is not static and while playing the sitar (especially meend) the pressure on the soundboard will be far too high. I don’t know the thickness of this plate, I am afraid it is too thin.
Et tu n’as pas encore vu le travail terminé !
Klaas a placé les frets, les 7 cordes principales, le silet, le chevalet, …
Bref il est superbe … mais uniquement à regarder pas pour jouer !

J’espere le tableau tiendra les tensions des cordes,normallement c’est le cas.
Il faut eviter des cordes epais parce que ca augmente la tension quand on fait un “meend”
